Yep, we had Zone Conference this last week. It was a ton of
fun! I love it, being around so many great missionaries. I really felt the
Spirit this time around and what we can do to help our area grow, and what I
can do to improve myself as well.
This last week we went to an old Japanese Village Monument
from when the Japanese were here in Thailand, and Ayutthaya was the old
capital. A lot of ships came in and out of here and was a big site for trading
apparently because of all the water routes coming through here. It was like a
museum type thing where we could watch videos about the history as well so it
was pretty cool. I've found that I actually like museums about history.
Especially here, where it was well done and very cool to see.
We began teaching in Islamic family this last week. I'm sure
mom would have a heart attack to know that we were, or maybe she wouldn't. It
was a lot of fun, and they were open to talking about prophets. The wife is
actually Buddhist but she has to convert to Islam by religious law, because of
her husband. Not sure if they want to learn more, but we gave them a Book of
Mormon. They are Thai by the way, just Islamic Thai people, so just a heads up,
thats the other part of the population here. Don't be surprised if we see some
when we come back here.
They and a lot of our investigators live about 11 km out,
but riding my bike is fun... and I think I have a weird tendency to scare
street dogs with my bike. They bark and chase after us, but in the end, it's
all bark and no bite, especially when I chase them back.
Not really a whole ton this week! Just have to remember that
when we count our blessings and let our gratitude sink into our hearts, then we
truly be happy. We must choose happiness and we must also strive to improve,
but let's choose to be happy while doing so. Remember, President Gordon B.
Hinckley said
How magnificently we are blessed! How thankful we ought to be! … Cultivate a spirit of thanksgiving for the blessing of life and for the marvelous gifts and privileges each of us enjoy. The Lord has said that the meek shall inherit the earth. (See Matt. 5:5.) I cannot escape the interpretation that meekness implies a spirit of gratitude as opposed to an
attitude of self-sufficiency,an acknowledgment of a greater power beyond oneself, a recognition of God, and an acceptance of his
commandments. This is the beginning of wisdom. Walk with gratitude before him who is the giver of life and every good gift.13
I know that as we are meek, and seek a remission of our sins
at all times, the scriptures say this:
"
11 And again I
say unto you as I have said before, that as ye have come to the knowledge of
the glory of God, or if ye have known of his goodness and
have tasted of his love, and have received a remission of
your sins, which causeth such exceedingly great joy in your souls, even so I
would that ye should remember, and always retain in remembrance, the greatness
of God, and your own nothingness, and his goodness and
long-suffering towards you, unworthy creatures, and humble yourselves even in
the depths of humility, calling on
the name of the Lord daily, and standing steadfastly in the faith of
that which is to come, which was spoken by the mouth of the angel.
12 And behold, I say unto you
that if ye do this ye shall always rejoice, and be filled with
the love of God, and always retain a remission of your
sins; and ye shall grow in the knowledge of the glory of him that
created you, or in the knowledge of that which is just and true.
I know that these things are true and will help us be happy.
Just be humble, rely upon the Lord, and we shall always rejoice and be filled
with the Love of God.
Love you lots Dad! Talk to you soon!
